I’d like to wish all readers of Handful of Earth a happy new year! I hope that each of you has had the opportunity rest and reflect moving in to 2024.
I am currently traveling and will not have the time to put together Weekly Groundings of the caliber that I would like over the next two weeks. Instead of sharing Groundings of a lower quality, I will be publishing two Excavations which will serve as guides to the flagship content published thus far on Handful of Earth. The first Excavation will feature my essays and articles on Handful of Earth to date and will be published on Friday, January 5th. The second will showcase my reviews and interviews and will be published on Friday, January 12th.
Since many of my readers have subscribed to Handful of Earth in recent months, I realize that you may not have had the chance to look into all of my work here. These Excavations are designed to serve as a resource for you to return to at any point if you wish to explore more of what Handful of Earth has to offer.
Whenever I publish an essay, article, review, or interview, my hope is that its value transcends the immediate moment in which it was written. Though I regularly address current events here on Handful of Earth, my intention is to offer grounded thinking with roots strong enough to weather the storm of the news cycle and nourish readers who may discover my writing months or even years after its first appearance.
I sincerely hope that you will utilize these Excavations in ways that are helpful to you—as a reminder of content to return to, a prompt to read further, or a document to share with friends and family who may be interested in Handful of Earth.
Keep an eye out for new writing later this month. I’m excited to offer you regular Weekly Groundings, Monthly Muses as well as fresh essays, articles, reviews, and interviews in 2024. Seeing as it is a pivotal election year in the United States, it is more important than ever to remain grounded in the midst of media overload and information war. I hope that Handful of Earth is a part of your grounding practice.
As we move into 2024, I also invite current subscribers who would like to see Handful of Earth expand to pledge your support. All of my content is currently free, but if you would like to see Handful of Earth grow in the future, you can pledge a paid subscription. Pledges give you the opportunity to write a personal note to me, in which you can share the kind of content you value most and what direction you’d like to see Handful of Earth go in the future. If you believe that Handful of Earth makes a unique and valuable contribution to discussions and debates on culture, politics, and technology, please consider a pledge to support my work.
Thank you all for your continued readership, and I wish you a happy and healthy new year from Handful of Earth!
